On August 25, 2006, operational control of Lake Houston Park was transferred from Texas Parks & Wildlife to the City of Houston. You can collect a map at the park entrance. Once away from the park entrance, you can very often not see another person for the whole ride.
From Houston take US-59 north for about 30 miles and exit at New Caney. You will see signs for the park at the New Caney exit. Follow them to the park.
